About

Brenda's interests lie in digital textile print, surface embellishment and illustration.  Much of her work

combines dualities - eg. strong linework vs fluid inks,

order vs chaos, muted colour vs bold.

In 2013 she was chosen for an internship at textile studio

Ink & Spindle. She travelled from her home in Perth to attend, and this initial taste of the Melbourne design scene had her hooked.  After several return visits, she now calls it home.

Brenda completed her studies in Ba. Textile Design at

RMIT in 2020.  Her print designs are noted

for their adaptability to both fashion and homewares,

and she continues to develop her 'organic geo' aesthetic.

.

Her experience as a graphic designer also provides a

strong grounding in illustration and technical skills

which are evident in her work.

During semester breaks she travelled to Thailand and Vietnam to learn from local artisans and explore their traditional textile making.  She’s hoping to incorporate similar travels into her future holidays whenever possible.

A growing interest in trend forecasting is supported by a background in human behaviour studies and psychology.
